Welfare Officer
A clear safeguarding strategy has been put in place by Sporting Loughborough F.C. to protect players & parents involved in the local grass roots game. It is available on our website and these are regulations set out by the FA and enforced by (CWO).
was appointed Club Welfare Officer for Sporting Loughborough F.C. and is responsible for every league within youth teams. Welfare Officers must have an FA-accepted Criminal Record Check, which has to be renewed every three years. They must also undertake regular FA-approved safeguarding training. With the club committee’s support, Welfare Officers ensure the appropriate checks and training are completed for anyone at the club working with children and young people under the age of 18.
roles and responsibilities are:
- Working with Youth League Welfare Officer (YLWO) & County FA Welfare Officer.
- Promoting the FA’s RESPECT Programme & Codes of Conduct.
- Promote the safeguarding children policy, antibullying policy and equality policy.
- The FA’s Safeguarding Children Best Practice guidance (eg, travel, Trips and Tournaments, Photography Guidelines, Anti-bullying Policy and Safeguarding Children Policy).
- How to refer a concern about the welfare of a child.
- Ensuring that the emphasis is always on ‘FUN’daments of football.
- Informing coaches and managers about the importance of being consistent role models for their players.
- The committee to make use of the RESPECT programmes designated spectator area at all games.
